this piece was also done for the performance series at ephemeroptera. i play both characters, who are breaking up with each other (myself?) and having a lethargic, post-breakup argument (we’ve all been through them). through the interplay of intimacy and confrontation, the pair begin to explore their more general frustrations and feelings of helplessness as citizens of the u.s. during the iraq war and escalating militarism. in bellicose i let myself hash it out with me to reveal the cycle of judgment and self-reproach that is ever-present (if unproductive) in my experience as an anti-war activist.
