Chase

Chase is a visual response to accounts of women being chased by attackers. When I first arrived in Providence I heard a couple of these true stories first-hand and was struck by how frightening and theatrical they were. In the videos, I am practicing being chased, in case it ever happens. A variety of environments evoke different possible circumstances in which the chase might ensue, and at the end of each practice my success is gauged. The drama of the chase is familiar in collective anxieties, and my excessive preparation for it seeks to exaggerate how normalized violence conditions experience.
