2008 performance in storefront window
I did this performance for 10 days in the window of Home Court Furniture Store on Court Street in Brooklyn. The piece was selected as part of Windows Brooklyn 2008. Windowblog collided the blogosphere with the physical public sphere. It consisted of a daily performance of handwriting the text of a “blog” entry onto strips of adhesive tape and sticking them to the inside of the storefront window to be viewed by passersby. The idea was to adapt the mode of personal diary perfected by blogging into a topical dialogue in public space by turning the public window into an interactive “screen”. Like digital blogs, the entries built up into an archive, shown in a monitor at the bottom of the window, and viewers will had the opportunity to comment using index cards.
